Bettina Rotzetter
Film Producer - Co Principal Investigator AGORA
Bettina's work is driven by the belief that film's greatest impact lies in its ability to translate clinical realities into deeply personal narratives. Bettina's and Ines's short films move beyond symptoms and statistics to reveal the person behind the patient, capturing unfiltered stories of resilience, struggle, and humanity. By doing so, they shatter misconceptions and fosters a powerful sense of empathy, giving a voice to a community often defined by their condition. In recognition of their impactful approach, Bettina and Dr. Ines Debove are the co-principal investigators on an SNF Agora grant to advance their work in Parkinson's awareness. Ultimately, their short films are a testament to the power of story to spark change, challenge perceptions, and connect us all on a fundamental human level.
My Story

Bettina is a filmmaker whose journey began in the rugged beauty of northern Canada. Growing up surrounded by nature, she developed a connection that shapes her artistic vision to this day. She developed a fascination with the way light shapes our perception of the world a fascination that continues to inspire her work today. Through her films, she captures the beauty and complexity of both nature and humanity, blending the subtle interplay of light and shadow to tell stories that resonate on a deeper, more emotional level.

For the past seven years, she has focused on Parkinson’s disease, creating impactful short films in partnership with Dr. Ines Debove, a movement disorder specialist. Together, they bridge medical science and cinematic storytelling, producing films that are both informative and deeply human.

Be’s love for nature continues to inspire her work, often capturing its fleeting beauty and reflecting life’s profound truths. Her close-up shots of human faces offer unfiltered glimpses into the humanity of her subjects. Whether through nature’s landscapes or the intimate details of a person’s expression, Be’s films aim to connect us to each other, to the world, and to the challenges we face.

In every frame, her work is a testament to the power of film to tell stories, spark change, and give a voice to those often unheard. Her motto is simple as she says “a good friend knows all my stories but the best friends helped me create them. Our life is full of fortune and misfortune but cherishing each day which we are alive is not only the secret sauce to a good life but ignites our passions.”
